The rates of SEO copywriters depend on various factors. The price depends on the experience but also the costs incurred by the copywriter. What many do not know is that it is often cheaper to hire an SEO copywriter from abroad. Dare to do business worldwide: it can save you a lot of money.

Money is a big problem

Money is a big problem for most companies. They want to generate revenue but spend as little money as possible. For the novice freelancer, determining rates causes a lot of stress. If the SEO copywriter asks too little, he will not be taken seriously. But if the rate is too high, this can put off clients.

Companies want to hire a good SEO copywriter. But at a realistic rate. Experience and trust play an important role in this.

Varying rates in different countries

Usually, the search is only for an SEO copywriter in the country where you are located. When you are an American company, you don’t think about hiring a European copywriter. Often this has to do with a language barrier. But did you know that this is no longer a problem these days?

Dutch writers are cheap. Their hourly rate is €50 to €80 ($54 – $87). When you go south you end up in France. Here they charge $60 to $70 an hour. That is more than in the Netherlands.

The cheapest European SEO copywriters can be found in Spain. The rate in Spain is around €25 per hour ($28).

India is the cheapest

When looking for a really cheap SEO copywriter, you should look for it in India. Here the copywriters charge between $8 and $10 per hour.

What can a copywriter write in one hour?

It can be difficult to determine what you get when you pay someone by the hour. You have slow copywriters and fast copywriters. Someone who works very slowly creates a high bill. Suppose you hire a copywriter from India and they charge $8 per hour. You ask to write a web text of 700 words. The copywriter has been working on this for 15 hours. Then you still pay $120. That’s very expensive.

On the other hand, you can also hire an American copywriter. This one charges $80 an hour. When the copywriter finishes in an hour, the bill is $80.

So it is important to see how fast the writer can work. Below I show what a good copywriter can create in one hour:

• A blog post of 500 to 1000 words, including a keyword research
• Two product descriptions of 200 to 350 words
• A news item of 500 to 600 words
• Writing an email for your customer, sometimes two emails

Is it wise to hire an SEO copywriter from abroad?

Perhaps you are afraid of getting bad texts when you hire a foreign copywriter. You should know that a good text depends on the experience and qualities of the writer. Not from which country it comes from.

Just like there are slow or faster workers, there are also good or bad copywriters. The best writer creates great SEO content, tailored to your location and target audience.

The copywriter will start writing text in his own language. After this, the translation starts. You can have this done by the copywriter, or you can do it yourself.

There are good translation tools that make excellent translations. For example Google Translate or ChatGPT. And even if there is a small mistake, you can easily remove it yourself.

A cost saving

When you hire a foreign copywriter, you can save up to thousands of euros or dollars. The cost savings can amount to more than 80%. But not every country has the best copywriters.

In countries where there is a lot of poverty, residents try to earn money in every possible way. Because writing texts is accessible (you only need a computer and internet), many try to earn an income in this way. It is therefore logical that most copywriters come from countries where poverty reigns.

It is important to look at the quality of the provider. When the provider’s website is not or difficult to find in the organic search results, this is a red flag. For example, search for ‘SEO copywriter’ and see how well the provider’s website scores.

For example: in the Netherlands I score in second place for the search term ‘SEO tekstschrijver (this is Dutch for SEO copywriter). With more than 10,000 copywriters, it was quite an achievement to take second place. It’s a recommendation you get from Google.

Don’t just save on costs, but make sure your investment is worth its money.
